Further News about TDC Planning Committee Meeting (click here to view)

As already notified, The Special Meeting of TDC Planning Committee on 11th October has been CANCELLED.  . It has now been rescheduled for Tuesday 18th October in the Princes Theatre starting at 6pm (late entry is allowed).  The site visit will take place on the morning of 18th October.   . We cannot afford to leaflet the whole village again so please pass the news on as widely as possible particularly to any village groups you belong to.  . It has now been confirmed that the new applications will be included as part of the Appeal Inquiry already arranged to start on Tuesday 15th November.  . It is still necessary for the applications to be put to the Planning Committee and if they decide to approve them, the applicants say they will cancel the Inquiry – and that would be an end to the matter.  . So it is still essential to have a good turnout at the Planning Committee on Tuesday 18th October.  Please attend if you can.  . The new applications contain new/revised documentation and altered financial figures but there is no arrangement for objectors to address these in written form to the Inspectorate.  No written submissions from the public have been accepted by the Inspectorate since 3rd March 2016 although much new information has appeared since that date.  The notification does say, “You may also, if you wish, attend the Public Inquiry, and at the Inspector’s discretion, give your views.  If you wish to speak at the Public Inquiry, you must be there when it opens”. If you wish for further information concerning the Inquiry, contact Leanne...

TDC Planning Committee Meeting – Tuesday 11th October CANCELLED (click here to view)

The latest twist in the Priory saga:   The special meeting of the Planning Committee on Tuesday next (11th October) has been CANCELLED.  The following statement was issued by TDC yesterday afternoon:   Following a briefing meeting held this afternoon with the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Planning Committee and consideration of external legal advice received by TDC, tomorrow morning’s site visit for the St Osyth Priory planning applications will NOT now take place.   The Planning Committee meeting due to be held next Tuesday (11 October) to consider the St Osyth Priory planning applications will also NOT now take place.  . We understand that this is because TDC have not made public all of the documentation received from the applicants.  . We also understand that the applicants have lodged an appeal because of non-determination of the applications within the time limit and therefore this will become the subject of a public inquiry – whether it will be put in with the one due to start on 15th November or whether it will be a separate one, is not known at present. . In any case, the Planning Committee will have to meet sometime to consider the applications and say what decision they WOULD have come to in order to instruct the officers to defend the case at the public inquiry.  Presumably this will be arranged once the complete documentation is made publically available. Please pass the information to as many people as...

New Date for TDC Planning Committee Meeting Regarding Priory Plans (click here to view)

TDC will be holding a special meeting of the Planning Committee to determine the Priory applications for building on Westfield and the Parkland. This will be on Tuesday 11th October in The Princes Theatre (Clacton Town Hall) starting at 6pm.  Latecomers will be admitted. There is considerable public opposition to these applications as shown by the many comments registered on the TDC website and it is vital that as many members of the public as possible attend to demonstrate to the Committee the depth of feeling of local residents.  You may recall the magnificent turn out for the meeting in January 2014. Parking is available in the nearby multi-story car park and there is access to the Princes Theatre for wheelchair users. SOS will arrange for uniformed marshals to conduct people to and from the car park on the evening. Please attend if you possibly can....

New Planning Approvals for Priory Owners (Click Here to View)

At the meeting of Tendring Planning Committee on Tuesday 14th June, plans were approved for 660 new houses on two adjoining plots of land at Lawford/Mistley.  One of these, for 300 homes, is in the name of Tendring Farms Ltd – one of the companies owned by the Sargeant family.  The Wellwick site is also owned by the same company. Whilst not wishing to support any large scale development in any other part of the district, one wonders why this site was not advanced as an enabling development for the Priory (as was Wellwick) which would have rendered the building of an additional 72 houses in West Field...
