INFORMATION SHEET
DON’T PANIC! – You have plenty of time to exercise your right of reply to the notification letters sent out to some residents by TDC at the end of April.
TDC have agreed that the normal 21-day limit for responses does NOT apply. We are waiting to get a definite date for objections from their Legal Department but the deadline may be as late as August. Anyone can object whether they have received letters or not. You need to find out exactly what the plans are and possible reasons for objecting on planning grounds to make your objections carry maximum weight. We advise you to WAIT for the PUBLIC MEETINGS and DROP-IN SESSIONS where we will have all the information available and cover all possible planning arguments so that everyone can voice their objections effectively.
In total, there are 9 applications listed on the TDC Website but you may not have received all, or any, notifications. These are much as expected with 123 dwellings in Westfield, behind Mill Street (in 4 sections); 190 dwellings in Wellwick Pit in Colchester Road; 19 new dwellings as residential/holiday accommodation within the ancient parkland/gardens and others including a Visitors Centre/Function Suite off Colchester Road. One application (No336) relates specifically to the demolition of No 7 Mill Street. Four others State, “demolition of one dwelling - - - erection of ?? dwellings”. These are the four sections of the Westfield estate all requiring No 7 to be demolished. There is only this ONE house to be demolished (so far!).
